🧾 How to Find a Customer Subscription in Shopify (Using the Apps Tab & Contracts)
Overview
This article will walk you through how to locate a customer’s subscription in Shopify by using the Apps tab and the Contracts section.
Follow these steps when you need to view, verify, or assist a customer with their active or past subscription.
🔎 Step 1: Locate the Customer in Shopify
Log in to your Shopify Admin.
In the left-hand menu, select Customers.
Use the search bar to find the customer by name, email, or order number.
Click on the customer’s name to open their profile.
🧩 Step 2: Access Subscriptions Through the Apps Tab
From the customer’s profile, scroll down to find the Apps section on the right-hand side.
Click on Shopify Subscriptions (or your store’s active subscription app).
You’ll see a list of linked Subscription Contracts associated with that customer.
📄 Step 3: View Subscription Contracts
Click on a Contract ID to open the subscription details.
Review key information, including:
Status: Active, Paused, or Canceled
Next Billing Date
Products included in the subscription
Billing and shipping information
Start date and renewal frequency
You can also see if there are any upcoming invoices or changes scheduled to the subscription.
🧰 Step 4: Verify Orders or Billing
From the same customer profile, click the Orders tab.
Match the Order IDs associated with the subscription contract.
Confirm details like payment method, renewal dates, or order history.
💬 Step 5: Support the Customer
Once you’ve reviewed the subscription:
Confirm the customer’s status (Active, Paused, or Canceled).
Provide details like next charge date or upcoming shipment.
If changes are needed, click Manage Subscription (or the equivalent in your app).
✅ Tip: If no contracts appear under the Apps tab, double-check the customer’s email and Shopify account — they may have used a different email at checkout.
